Register TODAY for Spring!

As previously communicated, LOCR has implemented a change to programming registration and fees.  Beginning with spring season, memberships will be auto billed monthly. Payments during the current month are for the next month’s rowing (e.g., March rowing is billed in February). Please note that if you miss the registration deadline for the start of spring season, you can still register but cannot resume rowing until the following month.  Members can cancel their membership at any time and finish the current month of rowing.

  • Youth: Register by 2/15 to ensure your enrollment in the spring season starting 2/20.

  • REMINDER: Youth Parents: Varsity and some Novice rowers will require a Passport (or a Passport Card) to participate in the Brentwood Regatta in Vancouver, BC this spring. Please apply ASAP as they take several weeks to process. Please contact your coach to find out if your rower is anticipated to participate in this regatta. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/need-passport/under-16.html

  • Masters: Register by 2/28 to ensure participation on 3/1.

Youth Parents—We Need You!

Would you like to help support youth rowers on site for regatta events? We are hoping several parents might be willing to help with regatta logistics, including helping serve meals and snacks at the hospitality tent, organizing and inventorying supplies, driving team vans, chaperoning for travel regattas, etc. If you are interested, please join our parent volunteer meeting on February 20 at 7:30 p.m. via Zoom.

LOCR Cruises the Willamette

Thank you to all who came out for an evening of socializing on the Portland Spirit’s Crystal Dolphin. It was a great evening! Seeing the LOCR boathouse and other river markers such as Milwaukie Bay and Elk Rock from a different vantage point was a lot of fun and probably made some of us even more eager to get back on the water in the coming weeks.

Thank you to Don Garrett of Guild Mortgage and Michaela Zacher of RE/MAX Equity Group for their generous sponsorship of this event. Congratulations and thank you also to Vivian Aranda-Michel who won the cash raffle and donated her winnings back to the club!

Finally, thank you also to Kella and Holly for their hard work organizing this event. If you have an interest in helping plan and organize LOCR social or fundraising events, please reach out to Kella to let her know.

We appreciate our volunteers!

There are loads of opportunities for supporting your rowing club. Whether it’s maintenance, regatta, board administration, or social and fundraising events, there are many ways for members and parents of athletes to get involved.

Thank you so much to our dynamite demolition team doing storm damage remediation work at our Row Studio this past weekend:  Doug Gerwitz, Josh Gerwitz, Rose Seitz, Josh Stevens, Nathan Skalsky, Holly H., Patrick Crowell, Marc Weinstein, and Shelley Lorenzen. Some of us admittedly found destroying drywall rather satisfying! Please keep an eye out for ongoing volunteer opportunities and consider joining us next time!
