Natalie Jennings
Assistant Coach
Natalie began her rowing career at Purdue University when she joined crew on a whim just days after getting cut from the marching band. As the years progressed, she joked that she majored in rowing and minored in engineering. It wasn't far from the truth, and now is even more applicable than ever when comparing hours in a boat to hours at a desk. She served on the executive board at Purdue for 3 of her 4 years on the crew. It taught her valuable club management and organizational skills.
After graduation she quickly learned that most masters teams practice way too early in the morning, so she thought it would be easier to start her own club to serve the rowers of Salem in the after-work hours, rather than drive up to Portland early in the morning. She's been the Director of Rowing at Salem Rowing Club ever since the club restarted in 2013 and has grown the club to a thriving program.
In summer 2024, Natalie joined LOCR supplement her rowing time at Salem with practice in different boat classes and to be more competitive at the national level by getting coached herself. That lasted about a month before she started helping out with coaching at LOCR too. She is proud of her accomplishments at the masters level including four silvers from Nationals and wants to spread her love of rowing to everyone, including you!

Outside of coaching, David was a member of the Oregon Army National Guard and is currently pursuing his degree in biology from Portland State University.
