FALL 2022 REGATTAS AT LOCR

Fall 2022 was one of the most exciting and arguably most successful regatta seasons LOCR has ever had.

The club opened the Fall 2022 season at Head of The Dog. The familiarity of the Willamette proved useful as the team took home 9 gold, 6 silver, and one bronze medal.

Two weeks following HOTD LOCR took a contingent up to Seattle for the American Lake Regatta. This regatta featured some of the best teams in the Pacific Northwest. LOCR emerged triumphant, picking up wins in the Men’s Jr Varsity 4+, Men’s Jr JV 4+, Men’s Open 1x, Women’s Jr JV 4+, Men’s Jr 1x, and Men’s Rec 1x.

Mid-October saw the Head of the Charles Regatta, one of the largest and most prestigious races in the world. LOCR brought a historic 7 boats to the regatta (4 Masters and 3 Youth), coming away with 4 sub-20th finishes.

Portland Fall Classic saw the largest contingent from LOCR in quite a while with over 70 athletes in attendance. Our  youth, masters, and collegiate teams worked in unison to place 3rd overall, with 7 gold, 4 silver, and 5 bronze medals.

The youth team finished out their fall season with two Seattle regattas: Green Lake Frostbite and Head of the Lake. The crew came away from Green Lake with 4 first-place finishes, 3 second-places, and a smattering of 3rd and 4th places across the board.

Both coaches and athletes are itching to compete again in the spring, and have high hopes for the 2023 season.

Our teams will attend a mix of local and regional regattas in preparation for NW Regionals. The youth look to send a good contingent to Nationals in Sarasota, FL at the beginning of June.
